Draw-and-guess for grades 9–12

Use this screen during brain breaks, advisory, or as a quick warm-up at any point in your high school class. Students take turns drawing and guessing prompts related to school life, pop culture, or your subject.

The class sees your drawing on the board, a timer counting down, a spinner for prompts, a scoreboard for team points, and a checklist to keep everyone on track.

Free for teachers. Your screens, classes and uploads are saved to your account.

How to use it in class

  1. 1Project the screen and explain the draw-and-guess game.
  2. 2Spin the wheel for a random prompt and show it to the drawer.
  3. 3Start the visual timer and let the student draw on the board.
  4. 4Teams guess the word; first correct guess wins a point on the scoreboard.
  5. 5Use the checklist to track whose turn it is and review steps.

Why it works

  • It encourages all students to participate, even shy ones.
  • Team play and competition boost motivation and focus.
  • Drawing and guessing build communication and quick thinking skills.

Tips

  • Remind students to keep drawings simple and appropriate.
  • Let students suggest words for the spinner before class.
  • Encourage teamwork and respectful guesses.

Make it your own

  • Use subject-related prompts (science terms, history events).
  • Try it in remote or hybrid classes by screen sharing.
  • Adapt with simpler words or more time for students with special needs.

Questions teachers ask

How long should each round last?

Two minutes per round works well for high school. Adjust the visual timer as needed for your group.

What if students are reluctant to draw?

Allow volunteers first, or let pairs draw together. Assure them it’s about having fun, not artistic skill.

Can I save the drawings?

Yes, use the annotation tool’s save feature, or take screenshots to review or share later.
