Interactive video
Turn any video into a lesson your students actually watch
Pick a YouTube video, upload your own or record your screen. Add questions and notes at the right moments, give it as homework or watch it together, and see who watched and what they answered.
Free for teachers. Students don't need an account.
Ready in three steps
- 1
Choose a video
Search YouTube with shortcuts to educational channels, paste a YouTube or Vimeo link, upload a video or record your screen and camera.
- 2
Add questions and notes
Pause where it matters and add a question or a note. Or let AI write questions from the video's captions and place them at the right moments.
- 3
Give it to your class
Assign it as homework with a due date, share a link or QR code, or play it live on the projector while students answer on their phones.
Everything you need for video lessons
Search YouTube in the app
Safe search with shortcuts to Khan Academy, TED-Ed, Crash Course and more. Paste YouTube or Vimeo links too.
Record your own video
Record your screen with your voice, or yourself with the camera, right in the browser. No extension to install.
Cut the video
Choose where students start and stop, so they only watch the part you need.
Every question type
Multiple choice, open answer, fill in the gaps, ordering, matching, polls, word clouds and more, at any moment of the video.
Notes and voice notes
Add a short explanation, a picture or a recorded voice note. The video waits while students read or listen.
Questions with AI
AI reads the video's captions, writes questions for your grade and pins each one right after the part it is about.
No skipping ahead
Students can rewind but can't jump past what they haven't watched. Turn it off when you don't need it.
See who watched
For every student: how much of the video they watched, their answers and their score. Grade open answers and download a spreadsheet.
Watch together in class
Play the video on the projector. It stops at each question, students answer on their devices and you show the results.
How teachers use it
Flipped classroom
Students watch the new topic at home with questions on the way, so class time goes to practice.
Homework that's checked for you
Closed questions are graded automatically, and you see who watched before the lesson starts.
Revision and catch-up
Students who missed a lesson watch it at their own pace and answer the same questions as the class.
Language listening practice
Captions on or off, slower speed and questions after every part of a song, interview or news story.
Questions teachers ask
Is it free?
Yes. Making video lessons, giving them to classes and seeing results is free for teachers, with no limit on the number of video lessons.
Which videos can I use?
YouTube and Vimeo videos, video files you upload and screen or camera recordings you make in Edform.
Do students need an account?
No. Students can join with a code, a link or a QR code. If you prefer, they can sign in with Google or a username from your class.
Can students skip ahead?
No, unless you allow it. The video stops at every question and note, and with "No skipping ahead" on, students can rewind but can't jump past the part they haven't watched.
Can I see if a student watched the video?
Yes. The report shows how much of the video each student watched, their answers and their score, and you can download it as a spreadsheet.
Can I use video lessons other teachers made?
Yes. Teachers publish video lessons to the free Edform library. Use any of them, and a copy you can change is added to your account.
