What is an NCEA practice assessment generator?
An NCEA practice assessment generator writes a practice task in the style of NZQA assessments for your subject. Add a topic or paste a resource, then pick the level and the type. An internal gives a student-facing task with context, instructions, conditions and resources, linked to an achievement standard (the number is named only when Edform is sure of it), plus an assessment schedule with evidence for Achieved, Merit and Excellence. External practice gives an exam-style paper of 2–4 questions with parts and a schedule with N0–E8 style judgements. The grade boundaries are spelled out, such as explain, explain in depth and evaluate. Edit it, add tasks or solutions, then print or download it.

Questions teachers ask
Is this an official NZQA assessment?
No. It is a practice task in the style of NCEA assessments, not an official assessment resource, and Edform is not affiliated with NZQA. Check standard numbers and criteria against the current standard.
Is the NCEA practice assessment generator free?
Yes. Create a free Edform account to use it. The free plan includes a few AI runs every month, and Pro adds more if you create a lot.
Can I make both internal and external practice?
Yes. Choose an internal task with an assessment schedule, or exam practice with N0–E8 style judgements, at Level 1, 2 or 3.
Does it show the difference between Achieved, Merit and Excellence?
Yes. The schedule gives evidence for each grade and makes clear where the boundaries lie.
Can I edit, download or print the questions?
Yes. Edit any part by hand, or use one-click changes: Harder, Easier, More tasks, Add solutions or Three difficulty levels. You can also describe your own change. Then copy it into Google Docs, download a Word file or print it.
