What is an AI DOK question generator?

A DOK question generator writes questions and tasks for each level of Webb's Depth of Knowledge: recall and reproduction, skills and concepts, strategic thinking and extended thinking. Type a topic, paste a text, upload a file or add a web link, then choose one to five questions per level. Edform explains what each level asks of students, writes the questions, and adds a short expected answer for levels 1 to 3 and success criteria for level 4 tasks such as investigations and projects. Use More tasks, Easier or Harder to adjust the set, edit anything by hand, then download or print it. A Next step turns the questions into an interactive quiz.

How it works

Describe your topic or paste your material.

  2. 2

Questions teachers ask

What is Depth of Knowledge?

Webb's Depth of Knowledge (DOK) describes how deeply students must think to complete a task, from level 1 (recall) to level 4 (extended thinking).

Can I create questions from a text?

Yes. Paste a text, upload a file or add a link to a web page, and the questions will be based on it.

How is DOK different from Bloom's taxonomy?

Bloom's describes the type of thinking (remember, analyze, create); DOK describes how complex the task is. Both help you plan a range of questions.

Can I use the questions in an online quiz?

Yes. Choose Quiz under Next to turn them into an interactive quiz you can save as an Edform activity and assign to your class.

Is it free?

Yes. Create a free Edform account: the free Basic plan includes 5 AI points a month, and each result or change uses one point. Pro gives you 300 points a month.

Are the expected answers always correct?

Check them before you use them. AI drafts, the teacher reviews, and you can edit any question or answer by hand.
