End-of-day routine for grades 3–5

Use this screen during the last 10–15 minutes of the day to help students in grades 3–5 stay organized and calm as they pack up. The screen guides them through each end-of-day step with a checklist, shows the current time, and asks for feedback with an exit ticket.

Your class will see a clear list of what to do, a clock to manage time, and a place to share how the day went. You can also add reminders or a fun sticker to make it feel positive and routine.

Free for teachers. Your screens, classes and uploads are saved to your account.

How to use it in class

  1. 1Open the template and choose a background that feels calm.
  2. 2Edit the checklist to match your classroom's pack-up steps.
  3. 3Type any reminders or notes in the text widget.
  4. 4Project the screen; let students tick off checklist items as they finish.
  5. 5Show the clock so everyone can see how much time is left.
  6. 6Have students answer the exit ticket on their own devices or as a class poll.

Why it works

  • A visual checklist helps students remember each step and stay on task.
  • The exit ticket gives students a voice and lets you check how they felt about the day.
  • Showing the time helps students pace themselves and reduces end-of-day stress.

Tips

  • Keep the checklist short and clear so students can follow it easily.
  • Use the sticker to celebrate a great day or remind about special events.
  • Let students take turns leading the checklist to build responsibility.

Make it your own

  • Add subject-specific reminders for homework (math, reading, etc.).
  • Use in remote or hybrid settings by sharing your screen and linking the exit ticket.
  • Adapt checklist steps for students with IEPs or different organizational needs.

Questions teachers ask

How long should the end-of-day routine take?

Aim for 10–15 minutes so students have enough time to pack up, reflect, and not feel rushed.

Can students complete the exit ticket on their devices?

Yes, they can scan a QR code and answer on their phones, tablets, or Chromebooks.

What if we run out of time before finishing the checklist?

Do the most important steps and finish the rest together. The checklist helps keep everyone on track, even if you need to skip something.
