Virtual dice roller, coin flip and random number

Virtual dice are on-screen dice you roll for the whole class on the projector — no lost dice and no arguing about how they landed. Roll up to six big dice and see the total, choose 4, 8, 10, 12, 20 or any number of sides up to 100, or switch to dice with maths signs, colors or letters for games and quick practice. Flip a coin and keep count of heads and tails, pick a random number between any two numbers, or get a yes / no answer. Every result comes from your browser’s fair random generator.

How to use it

  1. 1Choose Dice, Coin, Number or Yes / No at the top.
  2. 2Set how many dice, the number of sides or the number range if you need to.
  3. 3Press the big button (or Space) and read the result.

Ideas for your classroom

  • Roll two dice and ask students to add, subtract or multiply the numbers.
  • Roll the maths-sign die to choose the operation for a mental-math round.
  • Flip a coin many times and compare the tally with what probability predicts.
  • Roll a letter die and ask for a word that starts with that letter.
  • Pick a random number for the next question, page or team turn.

Questions teachers ask

Are the virtual dice free?

Yes. They’re free, with no account and nothing to install, and they keep working offline once the page has opened.

Are the dice fair?

Yes. Every face has the same chance — the result comes from the browser’s cryptographic random generator.

Can I roll dice with more than six sides?

Yes. Choose 4, 8, 10, 12 or 20 sides, or set any number of sides from 2 to 100.

Can I use it for probability experiments?

Yes. The coin keeps a running count of heads and tails you can discuss with the class.

What range can the random number have?

Any whole numbers up to a million apart, including negative numbers.

Does it work on an interactive whiteboard?

Yes. Press Full screen and tap the big button on the board, or press Space on the keyboard.
