Traffic light
The traffic light widget is a simple classroom management tool that shows red, amber, or green signals to your students. With just a click, you can let the class know when to stop, get ready, or go, making transitions and expectations clear for everyone.
Teachers use the traffic light on their classroom screen during group work, silent reading, or anytime they need to signal when it's time to start, pause, or end an activity. It's also helpful for managing noise levels or signaling if students can ask questions or need to wait.
Ways teachers use it
- Signal when students should stop, get ready, or start an activity.
- Manage noise levels by showing which color allows talking or requires silence.
- Guide transitions during centers or group rotations.
- Show if students can ask questions or should wait until the end of the lesson.
- Use during tests to show when time is almost up or pencils down.
How to set it up
- 1Sign in to your Edform teacher account and open your classroom screen.
- 2Click 'Add widget' and select 'Traffic light' from the manage category.
- 3Place the traffic light widget anywhere on your screen layout.
- 4Click on red, amber, or green to change the signal as needed during your lesson.
- 5Adjust the size or move the widget to fit with other classroom tools on your screen.
Tips
- Explain to students what each color means before using it in class.
- Use the amber light to give students a warning before a transition or to signal that time is almost up.
- Combine the traffic light with a classroom timer for smooth activity changes.
- Try using the widget as a visual cue during group work to indicate when students should be working quietly or can talk.
