Timer
The classroom timer widget is a simple countdown and stopwatch tool that helps you manage time during lessons. You can set a specific time, start the countdown, and get a gentle sound when time is up, so both you and your students know when to move on.
Teachers use the timer for timed activities, transitions, tests, or games. It helps students stay focused and on track, and makes it easy for everyone to see how much time is left for each task.
Ways teachers use it
- Time a quick quiz or test to keep students on schedule.
- Use during reading groups to manage rotations and transitions smoothly.
- Set up a countdown for classroom games or challenges.
- Display the timer during silent work or brain breaks to help students manage their focus.
- Use the stopwatch to track how long it takes the class to clean up or line up.
How to set it up
- 1Sign in to your Edform teacher account.
- 2Open your classroom screen or create a new one.
- 3Click 'Add widget' and select 'Timer' from the time category.
- 4Choose either countdown or stopwatch mode.
- 5Set the desired time (for countdown) or get ready to start (for stopwatch). You can also adjust the sound settings if needed and pick a style or color for visibility on your board or screen.
Tips
- Place the timer where all students can see it clearly.
- Use different colors or styles to match your lesson theme or to signal different types of activities.
- Remind students what the timer is for before starting.
- Try the silent mode if you prefer no sound at the end of the countdown.
