A hangman generator lets you play the classic word-guessing game with your own words. Type the words or phrases, one per line, and add a clue after a | sign. The class guesses letters by tapping the big letter buttons or typing on the keyboard; every wrong letter pops a balloon, so it stays friendly for young children. Choose 6, 8 or 10 balloons, show the word when you need to, and move on to the next word in the list or shuffle the order. The letter buttons match the language of your words — Latin with accents, Cyrillic, Greek, Georgian or Armenian — and the words never appear on screen until they are guessed.
How to use it
- 1Type your words, one per line, with an optional “| clue”.
- 2Put the game on the board and let the class guess letters.
- 3Show the word or go to the next one; shuffle the list for a new round.

Is the hangman generator free? Do I need an account?
It’s free and needs no account. Your words stay in your browser.
Why balloons instead of a hangman?
It’s the same game in a kinder picture: each wrong letter pops a balloon instead of drawing a gallows, so it suits every age.
Can I use phrases and other languages?
Yes. Phrases keep their spaces and punctuation, and the letter buttons follow the alphabet of your words, including accented letters.
Can students see the words before they guess them?
No. The list is typed in the settings below the game and only the letters that have been guessed appear on the board.
Can students play hangman on their own devices?
Yes, in Edform: any quiz can be played as the “Guess the word” game on students’ own devices, with results saved for you. Sign-up is free.
