Widgets
QR code
The QR code widget lets you turn any website link into a large, clear QR code that students can scan right from the classroom screen. This makes it easy to share digital resources, assignments, or interactive activities without printing or emailing links.
Teachers use the QR code widget when they want students to quickly access a website, form, or digital tool on their own devices. It is helpful for sharing links during lessons, group work, or as part of an exit ticket at the end of class.
Ways teachers use it
- Share a homework assignment link so students can open it on their own devices.
- Direct students to a live poll or quiz during class discussions.
- Give quick access to a video or reading for group or independent work.
- Use as an exit ticket by linking to a digital feedback form or reflection question.
- Provide a link to digital class rules or resources at the start of class.
How to set it up
- 1From your Edform dashboard, open or create a classroom screen.
- 2Click 'Add widget' and choose 'QR code' from the content widgets.
- 3Paste the website link you want students to visit into the provided field.
- 4The QR code will appear instantly on your screen. Resize or move the widget as needed.
- 5Project your screen so students can scan the code using their phones or tablets.
Tips
- Test the QR code with your own device before class to make sure it links correctly.
- Use short links for faster scanning, especially if students are using older devices.
- Pair the QR code widget with instructions or a timer to guide students on what to do next.
- Remind students how to use the camera or QR code app on their devices if they are new to QR codes.
