What is an AI IEP goal generator?

An IEP goal generator drafts measurable annual goals from a description of a student's current performance. Choose the area (reading, writing, math, communication, social-emotional skills, behavior, executive function, motor skills or independence), describe what the student can do now with any data you have, and choose one to five goals. For each one, Edform writes a SMART goal with a condition, observable behavior, criterion and timeframe, the baseline it builds on, two or three short-term objectives, how and how often progress will be measured, and classroom strategies that support it. Language stays objective and strengths-based, with no diagnoses. Edit the goals, then bring them to the plan team to review.

Questions teachers ask

Can I use the goals as they are?

Treat them as a draft. The plan team should review and adapt every goal to the student and to local requirements. This tool doesn't give legal advice.

Do I need to enter the student's name or diagnosis?

No. Describe the student's current skills and data. Personal details aren't needed.

What is a SMART goal?

A goal that is specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and time-bound, so everyone can see whether it was reached.

Which goal areas does it cover?

Reading, writing, math, communication and language, social-emotional skills, behavior, executive function, motor skills, and independence and daily living.

Can I download the goals?

Yes. Edit them in Edform, then download them as Word or copy them into the system your school uses for plans.

Is it free?

Yes. Create a free Edform account: the free Basic plan includes 5 AI points a month, and each result or change uses one point. Pro gives you 300 points a month.
