Reading TERM I TEST Name ___________________________________________________________ Total ___/15 Grade ___ (GA A2 Unit 1-2) A Anna We live in a new house and my mum is using a great website, roomplanner.com, to plan all the rooms. It’s lots of fun. You can move the sofa and the armchairs or put the beds in a different place. Or put a desk in the living room and a mirror in the hall. You draw a plan of your house. Then you can move your furniture to different rooms. Perhaps it looks good, perhaps it doesn’t. OK – try again. You can change your plan again and again until you get it right! And you can see the results in 3D – it’s very real. You don’t have to work hard and you can still have the perfect house! We have a lot of furniture from our old house and with this website we can try lots of different ways before we have to move anything. It’s easy to use and the 3D is great. B Damian My dad has got roomplanner.com and he lets me play with it. I don’t usually surf the Internet much or play games, but this website is great! My bedroom is quite small and my dad says I can have some new furniture, but first I have to decide where I want to put my things. I’m using the website, and it’s helping a lot. I want a new bed with a desk under it and some more cupboards. It’s looking good now and my dad likes the plan so I can get my new furniture soon. (GA_TG_R1_st)

Jason lives in a big house near the sea. That’s not really unusual, is it? But Jason’s house is very big. There are 20 bedrooms, two kitchens, a big dining room for 40 people and a swimming pool, too! You’re probably thinking Jason has got a very big family, but you’re wrong! Jason lives in a hotel. Jason’s parents own The Jackson Star Hotel in the lovely little seaside town of Barnaby. Lots of people go there in summer for their holidays and stay at Jason’s hotel. It’s very popular! Jason lives with his mum and dad in a small flat at the top of the hotel. They work in the hotel and Jason helps when he is not at school. He sometimes takes the rubbish out and makes the beds. So, does Jason like living in a big hotel? Jason says, ‘Yes, I like my room. It’s very high up, and from one window I can see all over the town and from the other window I can see the sea. I’ve got a big desk in my room with a computer on it so I can do my homework. And I’ve got my own T V. My friends like staying here because the bedrooms are comfortable, and we get very good food! I like the people, too. They come from different places around the world.’ Is there anything he doesn’t like?
