GRE-un2
During his three years as a doctoral student, Jack faced a number of
challenges and setbacks. As a result, he was no stranger to adversity.
His latest problem was that he had forgotten to complete an assignment for his advisor, Dr. Rik Ingrid, an eminent scholar whose fame was accompanied by a nasty temper.
As he stood in the doorway of Dr. Ingrid’s office, trying to explain why the assignment wasn’t ready, Jack knew that a stormy reaction was imminent. Although he tried to conciliate Dr. Ingrid,
Jack’s girlfriend told him later that she had heard his advisor’s loudly delivered
criticism reverberate all the way down the hall.

GreUn1(part1)
Stunned by a nearby explosion, the young soldier lay on the ground without
moving, almost insensible owing to the force of the blast.
Then he looked up. Through
the smoke he could just barely descry a staff sergeant, the leader of his squad, walking
toward him from a small building.
This particular staff sergeant was the apotheosis of
courage. In battle he was resolute, and he often risked his own safety to help the men
under his command. Watching this brave man approach, the wounded soldier felt a
sense of relief, and the anxiety that had been gripping him began to abate.
GRE un 1 (part2)
"Nice day," said the staff sergeant jovially when he reached the soldier, “Any plans for the
evening?” The sergeant was making a little joke, of course, trying to assuage the young
man’s fear. “Not sure yet,” replied the soldier, vying with the sergeant to see who could
be funnier, “know of any good movies?” The sergeant laughed. “Come on,” he said, and
with that he helped the soldier to his feet as gingerly as possible and guided him quickly
to safety.
