A seating chart maker plans where every student sits, without sticky notes and erasers. Set the number of desk rows, desks per row and seats per desk to match your room, then seat the class randomly in one click. Tap one student and then another seat to swap them or move them to an empty desk. Students who are absent today are left out, and anyone without a seat is listed underneath. The plan is saved in your browser for each class list, so it’s ready next lesson. Project it at the start of class or print a clean copy for a substitute teacher.
How to use it
- 1Paste your class list and set rows, desks and seats per desk.
- 2Press “Seat randomly”, then tap two seats to swap students.
- 3Print the chart or project it at the start of the lesson.
Ideas for your classroom
- Start the year with a random plan, then adjust it as you get to know the class.
- Reseat the class every few weeks so students work with new neighbours.
- Project the plan as students arrive so everyone finds their seat quickly.
- Move a student closer to the front with two taps.
- Leave a printed chart in your substitute folder.
Questions teachers ask

Does it fit my classroom?
It uses rows of desks: up to 10 rows and 8 desks per row, with one or two seats per desk.
Can I place students by hand?
Yes. Tap a student, then tap another seat to move them there or swap two students. “Clear all seats” starts again.
Is the seating plan saved?
Yes, in this browser — one plan per class list.
What happens to absent students?
Their seats show “absent”, and random seating only uses students who are present.
Can I print it for a substitute?
