The General Social Survey has collected the opinions of Americans from the 1970s until this year. Follow the instructions below.

  1. Open the General Social Survey trends website by clicking here

  2. Under the Politics box, select the green "Political Beliefs" link

  3. You will notice five general categories toward the top (Gender & Marriage, Current Affairs, etc.) Under each category, you can click on the green down arrow next to the bolded green issue to get a list of American opinions on a range of issues over time. You can further analyze the trends with the "Question Response" and "Breakdown" dropdown menus.

  4. Select any issue from any of the five general categories that you believe will make a difference in the outcome of 2024 Presidential Election. Answer the question below.
