By using the Open-Ended feature, you ask students to complete the task by typing their answers into the field provided.

To start working with the element, use any of the methods below to put it on the worksheet:

  • Click the element and drag it to the necessary place. Adjust to the needed size.
  • Сlick the element first, then click the desired spot. The field will appear in that spot. Adjust the needed size.

When the field is where it is supposed to be, you can proceed to configure some settings. Click {Settings_icon} to open a pop-up with two blocks:

  • Settings, where you can specify the number of points students get when they answer correctly. To do this, simply click the field and select the desired option from a dropdown list (from 1 to 10 points, scored by default, or not scored).
  • Styles, where you can do the following:
  • Set a custom placeholder. Type the text with some explanations that your students will see right in the input field.
  • Justify text. Click the option (full, left, center, right) to set it.
  • Adjust font. Choose whether the text should be bold, italic, underlined, or strikeout by clicking the corresponding icon. Select the desired style and size of the font from drop-list options. Adjust the borders: define the color and the width.
  • Regulate background opacity. Move the indicator to the left or to the right to decrease or increase the opacity of the field respectively.

The Open-Ended fields can be:

  • Adjust its size.
  • Move the element to a different place. To do this, just hover over the checkbox field click and hold the six-dots icon  and drag it where needed, then release the button.
  • Duplicate the element by clicking copy icon  right next to the Settings icon. A copy will appear below.
  • Remove the element from the worksheet by clicking trash icon .

Report

When you get the task done by students, the system will automatically mark their answers as yellow, meaning the task needs to be checked by you. The Open-Ended tasks are not auto-graded. So after you check them, put the number of scores earned by a student in the assessment box. Ultimately, it will turn green.
